RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Fort Hays State's Talexa Weeter has been named the 2025-26 D2CCA Ron Lenz National Player of the Year and a first team All-American, announced Tuesday (March 24) by the Conference Commissioners Association.
  
One of the best pure scorers in the country, Weeter led NCAA Division II and ranked second across all levels of NCAA women's basketball with an average of 27.5 points per game. She broke a 20-year-old MIAA scoring record with 852 points, 13th-most in a single season in DII history and the most by a DII student-athlete since 2018.
 
The junior also broke both the school and conference records for scoring average and is the first player in MIAA history and the second at FHSU to score more than 800 points in a season.
 
A native of Goodland, Kan., Weeter scored in double figures in all 31 games this season, with that streak extending to 41-straight dating back to 2024-25. She scored 20-plus 26 times, including 12 games with 30 or more and two games with more than 40. Weeter tallied a season-high 46 points in the first round of the NCAA Central Regional, tying the FHSU single-game record.
 
The MIAA and D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year racked up 10 double-doubles on the year, ranking third in the MIAA with an average of 8.9 rebounds per contest. She ranked second in the league with a field goal percentage of 51.5 percent and was third with an average of 1.9 made 3-pointers per game while earning five MIAA Player of the Week honors.
 
Weeter is the second Tiger to earn a national player of the year honor (Kate Lehman, BennettRank.com, 2014-15) and is the seventh different FHSU student-athlete to earn All-America status.
