The Fort Hays State volleyball team will open the 2026 season by hosting five other schools for the Tiger Classic Thursday through Saturday (Aug. 27-29) inside Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Tigers will play four matches over the weekend, including one on Thursday, two on Friday and one on Saturday.

Live video of all 10 matches will be available via The MIAA Network. Access to view an individual match is available for $20, while fans can also purchase a season-long all-access pass for $140.

Admission will be available on a daily basis, with tickets going for $5 for adults and $3 for students, youth and seniors on Thursday and for $10/$5 on both Friday and Saturday. Separate tickets must be purchased for each day. Tickets can be purchased in advance online here or at the door.
 
Thursday's match will be FHSU's first under head coach Garcia Ramser. The first-year head coach brought in six newcomers to complement a dozen returners from last year's squad that finished 16-13 overall and reached the MIAA Championship quarterfinals for the second year in a row.
 
Peyton Bergschneider and Mylie Brown return at the outside hitter position alongside newcomers Hannah Schade and Madison Crowe. Bergschneider averaged 1.78 kills and 2.26 digs per set as a junior last season. Crowe was a four-time All-State pick in Colorado, with Schade earning first team all-region status as a senior in Arizona.
 
Ashlyn Reeves was an All-MIAA pick at middle blocker last season, leading the team and ranking 11th in the conference with 101 total blocks. Carsyn Cormaney (63 blocks, 141 kills) and Lauren Clawson are also back in the middle of the net alongside freshman Sofia Ricci, who set her high school's record with 277 career blocks while earning Kansas All-State honors as a senior.
 
Ella Goodwin and Avery Eshleman return as right-side hitters, with Goodwin ranking fifth on the 2025 squad with an average of 1.79 kills per set. Kansas Class 2A Player of the Year Regan Widener provides the Tigers depth on the opposite side after racking up 911 kills in her high-school career.
 
Annie Eaton returns at setter after totaling 285 assists and ranking second on the team with 26 service aces as a freshman last season. Sophie Sander will add depth at the setter position after earning three All-State honors in Iowa and compiling more than 3,000 assists in her high school career.
 
Returners Kaitlyn Cure, Hope Duncan, Delaney Gish and Haley Wolf will be joined by newcomer Jaden Goldberg on the back row at libero. Wolf (1.41 digs per set) and Duncan (1.20 d/s) both averaged more than one dig per set last season, with Duncan totaling eight service aces. Goldberg was picked to play in the 2026 KVA All-Star Game after earning all-league honors twice.
 
Truman State turned in a record of 12-17 last season, including a 7-6 mark in the GLVC. The Tigers are 3-12 all-time against the Bulldogs, with the Tigers most recently defeating their former conference rival twice in 2024.
 
Coming off a 4-22 record last season, Regis was picked 10th out of 15 teams in the RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll. Fort Hays State is 10-20 all-time against Regis. This is the first meeting since 2005, when the Tigers won in four sets in Denver. FHSU has won the last three meetings and five of the last six in the series.
 
Midwestern State compiled a record of 16-10 in 2025, including a mark of 9-8 in the Lone Star Conference. The Mustangs were ranked 10th out of 18 LSC teams in this year's preseason coaches poll. The Tigers are 3-1 all-time against MSU, including a four-set victory last season in Hays.
 
Eastern New Mexico is ranked 17th in the LSC Preseason Coaches Poll after posting a record of 5-24 a year ago. The Tigers and Greyhounds have not played since a pair of neutral-site meetings in 2010, with both teams taking one match. ENMU is 6-3 all-time against the Tigers.

Looking ahead, FHSU will play its next nine matches on the road before returning home to open conference play on September 16 against No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney. The road trip opens with five matches in Colorado next week, including a road rematch with Regis in Denver (Sept. 2, 6 p.m. CT) followed by four matches in Grand Junction at the Volley in the Valley tournament (Sept. 4-5).
