Brock Long

Brock Long enters his second year as an assistant football coach at Fort Hays State University in 2018. He will help coach linebackers for the second straight year.

Long helped coach linebacker Jose Delgado to All-America Third Team honors from the Don Hansen Football Committee and an All-MIAA First Team selection in 2017. He also helped coach linebacker Kolt Trachsel to All-MIAA Honorable Mention status in 2017. Long helped the Tigers to an 11-1 record in 2017, going undefeated in the regular season to win the program's first MIAA Championship. Long has helped FHSU to an overall mark of 26-9 in his two years as a player and one year as a coach.

A former standout linebacker at Fort Hays State, Long has enjoyed a successful professional career in indoor football with the Salina Liberty for two years. He led the team in tackles both seasons, posting 101 in 2016 and 98 in 2017. He was an All-Champions Indoor Football League selection for his efforts and led the league in tackles per game in 2016, then finished second in 2017. For his professional career over two seasons, he amassed 199 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 7 forced fumbles, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions.

Long had a great senior season at Fort Hays State in 2015, setting new single-season school records for tackles with 171 and tackles for loss with 21.5. He earned All-America honors from four organizations in 2015, including first team honors on the AP Little All-America and D2CCA Teams, and All-MIAA First Team honors. But tackles were not the only category he soared in, leading the MIAA in tackles for loss, sacks, and forced fumbles at the end of the regular season. He finished with 21.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and four forced fumbles to go with his massive tackle count. He averaged 14.3 tackles per game and reached double figures in tackles 10 times. Long recorded a total of 264 tackles over two years at FHSU to finish fifth on the career tackles list for the program's NCAA Division II history. He also produced a total of 13.5 sacks and 26 tackles for loss over the two seasons.

Prior to Fort Hays State, Long played two years at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, where he was an All-KJCCC Second Team selection at linebacker as a sophomore. He led Hutchinson in tackles that year with 94 and was second on the team the year before with 85 tackles.

A native of Assaria, Kansas, Long graduated from Fort Hays State University in 2016.
