Jared Haferbier

    Assistant Football Coach/Running Backs
Jared Haferbier enters his second year as an assistant coach with the Fort Hays State football team in 2016. He will coach the running backs for the second straight year.

In his first season coaching the running backs, Haferbier helped Shaquille Cooper to All-MIAA First Team and All-America status. Cooper ran for 1,441 yards, averaging 5.9 yards per carry, while adding 309 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns overall. Haferbier helped the Tigers set a new school record for rushing yards in a season with 3,013, producing 1,829 of those yards from the running back position. FHSU went to its first postseason game in 20 years, the Mineral Water Bowl, posting a record of 8-4.

Haferbier played football for four years at Truman State University as a wide receiver. He recorded 81 receptions for 792 yards in his career, producing over 300 receiving yards in two of his four seasons with the Bulldogs. He ranked second on the team in receptions as a sophomore and junior. He served as a team captain during his senior year and twice earned Truman’s Special Teams Player of the Year honor.

A native of Liberty, Mo., Haferbier graduated from Truman State University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He is currently working towards his master’s degree in Sports Administration at Fort Hays State University.
