Kiel Simas

Kyle Simas enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Fort Hays State football program in 2021. He will assist with the defense.

As a player, Simas was a key member of Fort Hays State's defensive line for four years from 2016-2019. Following a redshirt year in 2015, Simas played 43 games for the Tigers and was a starter throughout his entire senior season. He produced a career-high 34 tackles as a senior in 2019 and finished with 77 tackles overall in his career. He added 3.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss over his four years on the field.

Simas helped Fort Hays State to back-to-back MIAA Championships and NCAA Playoff appearances in 2017 and 2018. The 2017 squad went undefeated in the regular season at 11-0 and earned the No. 1 seed in Super Regional 3 of the NCAA Playoffs. He also helped the Tigers to a victory in the Heart of Texas Bowl following the end of the regular season in 2016. The Tigers produced an overall record of 36-11 during Simas' four years on the field.

A native of McKinney, Texas, Simas graduated with a degree in Health and Human Performance from Fort Hays State in 2019.
