Mike Hepp

Mike Hepp enters his fifth year as an assistant coach at Fort Hays State in 2021. Hepp begins his second stint as an assistant at FHSU after serving as an assistant coach at Minnesota Crookston for two years (2018-19). He served as both an offensive and defensive line coach at Minnesota Crookston. Hepp was an assistant at FHSU from 2014-2017. He primarily works with the defensive secondary.

In his four previous seasons at FHSU, Hepp helped the Tigers garner eight All-MIAA selections at his position assignments, including five defensive linemen and three safeties. Hepp helped coach Doyin Jibowu to All-America honors in 2017 as a safety, who ultimately went on to play professionally for the Chicago Bears of the NFL and Dallas Renegades of the XFL. Fort Hays State has enjoyed a winning record in all four years of Hepp's tenure on the staff, going 34-13 in that span. He also served as video coordinator, social media coordinator, equipment manager, assistant recruiting coordinator, and assistant camp coordinator.

Hepp helped the team postseason game appearances in three consecutive years, including the 2015 Mineral Water Bowl, 2016 Heart of Texas Bowl, and the 2017 NCAA Playoffs. The Tigers won their first-ever postseason game when they defeated Eastern New Mexico in the Heart of Texas Bowl in 2016. He helped the Tigers to an MIAA Championship in 2017, going undefeated in the regular season to earn the top seed in Super Region 3.

Hepp played four years at Ripon College, an NCAA Division III school in Ripon, Wisconsin. He was an all-conference second team selection as a junior in 2010 and then a preseason all-state selection as an offensive lineman heading into his senior year.

A native of Campbellsport, Wisconsin, Hepp graduated from Ripon College in 2012 with a degree in Education. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Instructional Technology.
