Johnny Adame is in his second season as the Fort Hays State men’s soccer assistant coach, and the women’s soccer goalkeeper coach in 2016. Prior to FHSU, Adame spent two season at Neosho County (Kan.) Community College where he was an assistant coach as well.
In his first year assisting Fort Hays State, Adame helped the Tigers to their winningest season to date. FHSU finished 13-5-2 and set the school record for most wins in a single season. FHSU made it as far as the Elite 8 in the NCAA Division II Championships, after becoming the Central Region Champions earlier in the season and ended the year ranked 14th nationally. With the assistance of Adame, the Tigers were awarded three All-American honors, the MIAA Player of the Year, and five All-Region honors in 2015.
While at Neosho, he helped guide the Panthers to a 25-11-2 record, and the 2014 Kansas Jayhawk Conference Championship. During that 2014 season, Neosho went 14-4-1 overall, and ranked as high as No. 22 in the NJCAA national rankings. Under the help of Adame, the 2014 campaign proved to be the most decorated team in school history. That year the team had two All-Americans, six first team All-Conference selections, a second team All-Conference selection, and three honorable mentions. Seven players from the team went on to play at the NCAA ranks, with six going to the division two level, and one going to the division one level. In his first season with the Panthers the team went 11-7-1, and made the playoffs for the first time in six years.
He has also served as an assistant coach and Director of Recruiting for the Joplin Demize National Premier Soccer League in 2014, as well as an assistant coach for the South Region NPSL Pro Combine in Fort Lauderdale, where he was the youngest coach to be selected.
