Jordan Melia is in his second season as Fort Hays State men’s soccer assistant coach in 2019. In his first season, he helped FHSU to a 17-2-2 record, an MIAA Championship, NCAA Central Region Championship, and appearance in the national semifinals.
Prior to FHSU, Melia played four seasons as a defender at Appalachian State. While at Appalachian State, he scored two goals and contributed two assists as a senior (2016), started all 18 matches he played in, while logging 1,378 minutes on the year. He served as a captain two years during his junior and senior seasons (2015-2016). Melia earned team most valuable player honors in 2016. He played under coach Jason O'Keefe, who served as an assistant at University of North Carolina, Wake Forest, and University of St. Louis prior to his time at Appalachian State.
Played PDL for the Southern West Virginia Kings Warriors… Two-year starter, was captain in his second year… Led the team to the most points in franchise history in the summer of 2016.
Spent time assisting the Carolina Rapids (affiliated with the MLS Colorado Rapids) U17’s DA in 2017 while helping former MLS player and Clemson standout Jeff Bilyk… Helped the team to a runner-up finish in their group.
Played in England in the Bury FC Academy… Made first team debut at 17 years old against Burnley… Captain of the youth team… Melia captained the reserves second year in the under-18 division as well as the following year… Grew up playing center back before moving to midfield his senior year.
