Jon George

    Graduate Assistant Cross Country/Track and Field Coach
Jon George is a graduate assistant coach with the FHSU cross country and track & field programs.  He helped the Tigers to their first-ever MIAA cross country title this past year.  He will work primarily with the steeplechase and middle distance runners during the track & field season.

George is from Santa Barbara County, California, where he was born and raised. He graduated from Righetti High School in 2003 with MVP,All-League, and CIF individual qualifier honors in cross country.  He was also All-League in Soccer, and MVP, All-League, and CIF qualifier for track & field. He graduated from California State University Stanislaus in 2008. He competed in cross country and track where he contributed to a runner-up finish in the CCAA conference for cross country and track during the 2007 season.

While running track at CSU Stanislaus, Jon specialized in the steeplechase. He recorded personal bests in the 800 meters (2:02), 1,500 meters (4:05) and 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:35).

Upon graduation Jon worked as an EMT and assistant coached at CSU Stanislaus for cross country and track under the direction of Diljeet Dosanjh-Taylor, where he assisted with the development of multiple NCAA II All-American athletes. He is a USATF Level 1 certificated coach.

In 2009 he enlisted in the United States Air Force Special Operations where he was a survival specialist as part of the Guardian Angels Weapons Systems. His passion for coaching and his acceptance of a graduate assistantship brought him to Fort Hays State University where he is working on his Masters degree in Health and Human Performance.
