Randy Stanley, currently the pole vault coach at Fort Hays State University, has been associated with FHSU track and field in a variety of roles since 1978. A vaulter himself, Stanley competed for coach Alex Francis and was a Central States Intercollegiate Conference (CSIC) champion. At the completion of his competition years, Stanley served as a student assistant track coach under Francis and later spent two years as a graduate assistant for Jim Krob. In the years since, Stanley has served as Physical Education teacher and head track and cross country coach at Victoria High School in Victoria, Kan. Stanley led the Knights to a 1A state track championship on the girls side, while being named coach of the year in both track and field and cross country.

Stanley is a certified USATF Level 2 coach in jumps. Stanley has coached at Fort Hays State alongside coaches Alex Francis, Jim Krob, Dennis Weber and Dr. Jason McCullough, instructing numerous conference men's and women's champions and All-Americans.

Men's vaulters won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Outdoor Championship 11 consecutive years during his time at Fort Hays State (1996-2006). He coached Ryan Stanley to eight All-American honors, including the 2021 NCAA DII Outdoor National Championship and the 2022 NCAA DII Indoor national title. Coach Stanley's vaulters hold the indoor and outdoor school records on both the men's and women's team.

Stanley earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Fort Hays State University in Exercise Science and Sports Administration.
