Tyler Smaha

Tyler Smaha joined the Fort Hays State University women’s soccer staff as an Assistant Coach in August 2019. 

Prior to his time with the Tigers, Smaha served as a volunteer assistant for one season with the Drake University men’s soccer program. In addition, he was a staff member of Iowa's Olympic Development Program, as well as coached High School and Club Soccer for two seasons at Johnston High School, Johnston Urbandale Soccer Club, and Sporting Iowa.

Smaha played four years of collegiate soccer at the Division III level for Buena Vista University and Simpson College. During his career, he was a three year starter and captained his squad for one season. 

He has obtained his USSF D License, is currently working towards his Advanced National Diploma through United Soccer. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS). In addition, he earned an English FA Level 1 Psychology Award and a Level 1 Goalkeeping Diploma through United Soccer Coaches.

A native of Johnston, Iowa, Smaha earned a bachelor’s degree from Simpson College in 2017 and is currently working towards his masters in Health and Human Performance at Fort Hays State.
