Brandi Fairbank

Brandi Fairbank took over as interim head volleyball coach for the Fort Hays State University volleyball program on September 14, 2017 after joining the Tigers as an assistant before the 2017 season.

The Cimarron, Kan. native comes to FHSU after competing at Sterling College in Sterling, Kan. for two seasons. As a middle hitter, Brandi was named second team All-KCAC in 2016 after earning honorable mention All-KCAC accolades in 2015. She also picked up KCAC All-Academic honors both years and was named an NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete following her senior season. Fairbank finished among the top 10 in the KCAC in hitting percentage (4th) and blocks per set (10th) her senior year, leading the Warriors in both categories.

Fairbank began her collegiate career at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kan. She started off her freshman year strong at DCCC earning a place on the All-Tournament Team at the 2013 NMMI Classic. However, midway through the season she experienced an injury due to Effort Thrombosis where she developed a massive blood clot in her hitting arm. After a successful rib resection and physical therapy, Fairbank was able to return for her sophomore season and earned the NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence while being named a first team Academic All-American.

Prior to her collegiate career, Fairbank earned multiple honors at Cimarron High School including a unanimous selection to the All-Conference First Team in 2012. Brandi also played club volleyball for Southwest Kansas Select and Club 81 throughout high school.

Fairbank has used her knowledge of the game to tutor young athletes and teach various clinics for grade school through high school ages, coaching individual players on the fundamentals of volleyball.

Fairbank received her Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communication from Sterling College, graduating with honors in 2017. Additionally, she completed internships with the Wichita Thunder and Hutchinson News during her senior year.
