Matt Reed is in his second year as the Fort Hays State Graduate Assistant Wrestling Coach. Reed is from Wichita, Kansas, where he attended Wichita Heights High School. While at Wichita Heights, Reed had an overall record of 128-16. He was a three-time state placer and a two-time undefeated state champion. He was also the Rocky Mountain National Champion, NHSCA Senior National Champion, and three-time Fargo Greco All-American.
Reed attended the University of Oklahoma and wrestled at 174 pounds for the Sooners. He finished his career as a four-time Big 12 Conference placer including a fourth place finish his freshman year, a third place finish his sophomore and junior seasons and a second place finish his senior year. At the national level, Reed was a three-time Division I NCAA national qualifier. Additionally, he finished sixth in the FILA juniors in freestyle.
Reed graduated from the University of Oklahoma in in 2017 majoring in Planned Programming with a Math concentration. Reed is working towards a Master’s degree in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Sports Administration.
