Dixie Balman enters her 12th year as Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator in 2025-26. She made the move into athletics after working at Fort Hays State in the Office of Financial Assistance from 1999 to 2014.
Balman served as Assistant Director of Financial Assistance at FHSU for 15 years, overseeing financial assistance programs for students, administering and maintaining the scholarship application program as well as ensuring and determining student financial aid eligibility. Her time in Financial Aid also saw her work closely with the athletic department, assisting in NCAA Compliance for financial aid eligibility and working alongside the department regarding Financial Aid Agreements for scholarship purposes. She also serves on several FHSU committees and as an advisor to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Other administrative stops for Balman include time at Cargill, Inc., and Newman University.
Balman holds two degrees from Fort Hays State University, a bachelor’s in Business Administration (management), achieved in 1989, and a Master of Liberal Studies in Organizational Leadership (2007).
She and her husband Dan have three children, Josh, Megan and Abby.
