Kaniesha Pettaway

    Graduate Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Kaniesha Pettaway is in her first season as a graduate assistant for the Fort Hays State women’s basketball program following one season playing for the Lady Tigers.

Pettaway was one of just two players to start every game for Fort Hays State in 2011 and she led the team in steals with 36. She also ranked second on the team in blocked shots with 22 and was named to the MIAA’s All-Defensive Team.

Pettaway started her career at Drake University where she started 41 games for the Bulldogs at point guard in three seasons. She helped spark Drake to the Missouri Valley Conference title as a sophomore after leading the team in assists and steals as a freshman. She also recorded four points and four rebounds in the NCAA Tournament against Tennessee as a freshman in 2006-07 and helped the Bulldogs to a WNIT appearance as a sophomore.

In high school, Pettaway was named to the Missouri Class 3A First Team as a senior in 2006 at Pembroke Hill HS in Kansas City, Mo. She helped guide Pembroke Hill to consecutive Missouri Class 3A State Championships and averaged 6.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 3.7 steals per game as a senior.

Pettaway received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Fort Hays State in 2011 and she is now pursuing her master’s.
