Tadhg Walsh enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Fort Hays State men’s soccer program. A native of Dublin, Ireland, Walsh transitions to the sidelines following a tremendous four-year career as a midfielder for the Tigers.
In 2025, his final year as a student-athlete, Walsh captained the Tigers to the GAC Regular Season and Tournament championships, the NCAA Super Regional championship, and the national semifinals. He helped the Tigers to their best record in school history, a mark of 20-1-3 overall, as the team went unbeaten all the way up until the national semifinal match. In his four years with Fort Hays State, the Tigers won 49 matches and three conference championships overall, while also making a pair of NCAA national tournament appearances.
Walsh was a standout student-athlete at FHSU. He was an All-America First Team selection by United Soccer Coaches in 2025 and a D2CCA All-America Second Team selection in 2024. He earned five All-Region honors overall, three from the D2CCA (2023, 2024, 2025) and two from United Soccer Coaches (2024, 2025). Walsh was a four-time all-conference performer, including All-GAC/MIAA First Team honors his final three years. He was the GAC/MIAA Midfielder of the Year in 2025 and was also a four-time GAC/MIAA All-Tournament Team selection. During his junior year, Walsh set a new single-season assist record at FHSU with 15, which led all of NCAA Division II during the regular season. He finished his four-year career with 53 points, accumulating 27 assists and 13 goals.
Coupling his success as a player with high performance in the classroom, Walsh was a CSC Academic All-America selection for men’s soccer in both 2024 (third team) and 2025 (first team). He was the first multi-time CSC Academic All-America selection for FHSU in men’s soccer. He was also a three-time CSC Academic All-District selection and named to the GAC Academic Honor Roll three times. Walsh earned his bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance at FHSU.
