Matt Cook enters his 12th year as Assistant Athletic Director of External Operations at Fort Hays State University in 2025-26. Cook returned to Fort Hays State University in 2014 after one year away as the marketing development coordinator for Prep2Prep.

Cook earned his bachelor’s degree in Recreation/Sports Management from FHSU in 2011 and a master’s degree in Sports Administration in 2013, while serving as a graduate assistant for the FHSU Athletic Department.

His past experiences include a two-year game day internship with the professional indoor football team Wichita Wild, interim Russell Recreation Director, and three years of coaching high school football and basketball in Russell, Kan.

Cook and his wife Kathleen have one daughter, Thea, and currently reside in Hays.
