For the second straight week, Maddie Holub has earned Athlete of the Week. Holub and the Fort Hays State softball team completed their season with a 31-19 record (13-7 MIAA) and placed third in the MIAA.

This week Holub pitched three games, all in the MIAA Tournament, totaling a 2-1 record for the Tigers. On day one, Holub led FHSU to a 7-2 win over Pittsburg State and a 2-1 upset of Missouri Western. In the 7-2 victory over PSU, Holub tied her own school record in strikeouts with 16, which see did two other times this season. She allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in seven complete innings. In the 2-1 win over Missouri Western, Holub allowed one run on seven hits and struck out eight Griffons. 

Holub pitched well in the lose to Emporia State, allowing the two runs on six hits with three strikeouts. She finished the season with a 19-9 record.

On the season, Holub made 34 appearances with 29 games started, including 26 complete games. She finished with a 1.62 ERA and a 19-9 record. In 195.0 innings pitched, Holub struck out a FHSU season record 306 batters. She allowed 109 hits with 54 runs (45 earned) and held opponents to a .161 batting average. Holub also totaled four saves in her five relief appearances.

Holub also led the Tigers in batting average (.361), home runs (10), hits (57), steals (nine), slugging percentage (.589) and on base percentage (.408).

Holub was named All-MIAA First Team as a pitcher, which was announced last week. Holub also earned Louisville Slugger Division II Pitcher of the Week and MIAA Pitcher of the Week this season. She holds career records in struckouts and home runs for the Tigers after three seasons.

The Tigers finished the season 31-19 and 13-7 in the MIAA, which placed them third in the conference. The record is the second-best win percentage the Tigers have achieved in school history. Six Tigers were named All-MIAA with Adriana Wortley named MIAA Defensive Player of the Year. The Tigers won 30 games for the fifth straight year, a school record.
