Cornelius Callon has been named Athlete of the Week for his performance in an overtime win over Southwest Baptist over the weekend. The FHSU football team improved to 2-5 overall and 2-5 in the MIAA with the win.

Gallon was the key to FHSU forcing overtime at Southwest Baptist, helping the team to a 37-34 win. On 4th-and-goal from the SBU 8-yardline, Gallon made a diving catch in the back of the endzone around his defender and drug his foot inbounds for the game-tying touchdown with three seconds remaining in regulation. He also had a 12-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter that put FHSU up 14-7 and then had a 3-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-10. He had a 33-yard reception that went to the SBU 3-yardline to set up the first touchdown of the game for FHSU. He had a 30-yard reception on the drive that extended the FHSU lead to 21-10. His longest reception of the game went for 41 yards to set up a field goal in the fourth quarter that pulled FHSU within a touchdown at 31-24. It was a new career high for Gallon in receiving yards and became the first Tiger to post a 100-yard receiving game this season. He averaged 17.2 yards per catch for the game. He became the first Tiger with three receiving touchdowns in a game since O.J. Murdock had three against East Central on September 4, 2010.

Gallon, a senior who transfered from Central Michigan last season, leads the Tigers in receptions and yards. He has 20 catches for 302 yards and four touchdowns. His long reception of 53 yards came in a win over Truman.

After starting 0-4 against all ranked opponents, the Tigers are 2-1 in their last three games. This Saturday (Oct. 20), FHSU welcomes Lincoln to Lewis Field Stadium for the MIAA Game of the Week. It is also the Hall of Fame Game and kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
