Brett Meyer posted the second-fastest time in the 800m run in Division II and hit the NCAA provisional mark last weekend at the Bill Easton Classic, hosted by Kansas University in Lawrence, Kan. The sophomore crossed the line in 1:54.15 to place second in the event, just a fraction off the winning time of 1:54 flat by Travis Hodge of Kansas State. Meyer's time was converted down to 1:52.54 due to the track size at Anschutz Sports Pavilion. Thomas Staines of CSU-Pueblo is the national Division II leader at 1:52.39 after his time was also converted at another meet. Meyer is a native of Scott City, Kan. where he competed for Scott Community High School.
