The Fort Hays State men's soccer squad plays their last two of a three-game homestand this weekend. The Tigers welcome Truman on Friday (Oct. 20) to the FHSU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m., and FHSU plays again on Sunday against West Texas A&M at 1 p.m.

The Tigers (8-2-2) look to extend their nine-game unbeaten streak, which dates back to Sept. 9. In this week's NCAA National Rankings, the Tigers received votes in the Top 25 poll. The Tigers continue to be ranked No. 4 in the South Central Rankings. Incarnate Word (Texas) (10-1-1), Midwestern State (Texas) (9-3) and Texas A&M International (7-2-2) are ranked No. 1, 2 and 3, respectively in the region.

The two games are rematches of early road games for the Tigers. Fort Hays traveled to West Texas A&M on Sept. 18 and knocked off the Buffaloes, 3-1, in Canyon, Texas. Junior forward Ricardo Yeverino scored two goals early in the 3-1 win and Omar Aguilar added the third goal, as the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the game.

The Tigers dominated Truman in their first meeting, defeating the Bulldogs 4-0 on Oct. 7 in Kirksville, Mo. Yeverino again scored two goals in the win, and Tomas Mares added the other two Tiger scores. Although the Tigers won 4-0, the Bulldogs had the edge in shots at 12-9.

Truman enters Friday's game with a 3-9 record on the season, defeating Quincy (2-1), Dixie State (2-1) and Central College (2-1). The Bulldogs started the season 3-3, but have lost six straight games, while struggling to score goals. The Bulldogs scored only twice during the six-game stretch and struggled to score all season. In their 12 games, Truman has eight goals for an average of 0.67 per game. Senior Jonathan Brown and junior Andy Chapman are the Bulldogs leading goal scorers, scoring three goals each.

Defensively the Bulldogs allow almost two goals a game (1.92), while allowing 16 shots per game. Junior Tyler Knierim is the primary goalkeeper for Truman, making 11 of the 12 starts in goal. The Hartsburg, Mo. native has a 2.08 goals against average and a .672 save percentage. Knierim allowed 20 goals and made 41 saves in 865 minutes of play this season. Freshman Drew Garrone made an appearance in four of the Bulldogs game, allowing three goals and making four saves in 216 minutes.

The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M are 5-6-1 on the season and currently own a four-game unbeaten streak before their Friday game against Northeastern State.  Through 10 games, the Buffs are led offensively by freshman midfielder Rodrigo Morin, who has a team-high five goals, including one goal in the two teams' previous meeting. Junior midfielder Lukas Garcia is also an offensive threat for West Texas. Garcia adds four goals on the season for the Buffs.
