Two Late Goals Down Tigers, 2-0, at Dallas Baptist

The Fort Hays State defense held Dallas Baptist scoreless for 77 minutes, but gave up two goals with less than 13 minutes left, falling in nonconference action to Dallas Baptist 2-0 on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 20) in Dallas, Texas.
 
With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 4-10-1 on the season and remain 1-6 in the MIAA.
 
Goalkeeper Kelsey Grey kept the Tigers in the game during the first half, making six saves. The Patriots totaled 12 shots in the first half, but the score remained scoreless at 0-0 after 45 minutes of play.
 
The Tigers had an excellent opportunity to take the lead in the 59th minute. A Dallas Baptist penalty gave freshman Jamie Babyak a penalty kick, however, the Patriots goalkeeper Kerry Edwards made a save on the strike, keeping the score deadlocked at 0-0.
 
The Patriots scored the game winner at 77:36 when Kourtney Edwards knocked in a blocked shot, giving the home team the 1-0 advantage. Dallas Baptist added to score, tallying their second goal with less than two minutes remaining in the game on a Brittany Layne goal.
 
In the second half, the Tigers totaled six shots, while the Patriots tallied nine.
 
Kelsey Grey ended the game with 11 saves on 21 shots from Dallas Baptist. The freshman goalkeeper is now 4-10-1 on the season.
 
The Tigers return home for a Saturday (Oct. 22) game with Missouri Western in MIAA play. The game is the final contest of MIAA action for FHSU this season.
