The Fort Hays State volleyball team continued their rough homestand on Friday night (Oct. 21) against Emporia State. The Tigers managed to take one set off of the Hornets before falling in four sets by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 17-25, 25-16.

The Tigers did manage to get three players in double figures in kills, led by Jenna Ulrich with 12. Kylee Hoagland added 11 while Yadira Jacquez put down for FHSU, who hit .144 for the match. Ulrich also had six blocks (one solo, five assist) while Hoagland recorded three service aces. Tracie Hileman led the Tigers with 19 digs while Makenzie Weinman added 17 and Kayla Zoglman continued on her season average with 40 assists.

Emporia State got a double double of 16 kills and 12 digs from Paige Vanderpool while Morgan Buckner also put down 11 kills. The Lady Hornets defense was their strength, with four players having more than 10 digs, led by Katie Deutschmann and Meg Schwartz who each had 16. Emporia State moves to 14-8 on the year and 6-3 in the MIAA.

Fort Hays State drops to 13-11 (2-8 MIAA) on the season and will face No. 7 Central Missouri tomorrow (Oct. 22) afternoon at 3:00 pm at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
