Tigers Play Home Finale Saturday at 6 PM

Playing in their final regular season game, the Tigers host Washburn on Saturday (Oct. 29) at 6 p.m. at the FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays in a non-conference matchup. This will be the second game of the season between the two teams as Washburn won on Sept. 17, 2-0, in a conference game in Topeka.

The Lady Blues played Thursday night on the road at Missouri Western, falling 3-2 to finish MIAA play 1-5-2. The Tigers are currently ahead of Washburn in the standings at 2-6 in sixth place. FHSU still has a chance to make the MIAA Tournament, just needing Missouri Western to knock off Emporia State on Saturday.

Last Saturday the Tigers roared past Missouri Western, 4-0, at home, before dropping to Northeastern State, 3-1, on Tuesday night. The Tigers are currently 5-11-1 on the season, their inaugural season.

Cindy Benitez, this week's MIAA Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week, has caught fire lately, scoring four goals in the last three games she has played. In the 4-0 win over the Griffons, Benitez totaled two goals and two assists for a season-high six points. She had a part in every Tiger goal, including scoring the game winner. On the season, Benitez leads the team in points and assists (20 points, six assists) and is second in goals with seven. Joanne Glynn continues to lead the Tigers in goals with eight this season. She scored one in the 4-0 win over MWSU.

The Lady Blues are 1-13-3 on the season with their only win coming against FHSU on Sept. 17, 2-0, in conference play. Saturday's game is Washburn's third straight game on the road as the Lady Blues lost the previous two at Nebraska (1-0 2OT) and Missouri Western (3-2). On the road, Washburn is 0-8-1 on the season.

Washburn averages about a half a goal a game, while allowing 2.12 goals. The Lady Blues get nine shots off each contest and allow 17 shots. On the season, Washburn scored nine goals and give up 36 in their 17 games. Leah Talley is the Lady Blues leading scoring with a team-high four goals and 10 points. She adds two assists in her 17 starts. Caysie Beetley adds three goals on the season and is second in points with six.

Mallorie Monhollon and Tori Fuglister have split time in goal with Monhollon making six starts and Fuglister making nine. Monhollon has the better statistics with a 1-6-1 record and a 1.85 goals against average. Fuglister is 0-6-2 on the year with a 2.01 goals against average.

Saturday's game is the last home game for the Tigers this season and could be their last game of the season, depending on Saturday's MIAA results. FHSU currently sits in sixth place in the conference with the top six making the conference tournament.
