The Fort Hays State women's soccer scored early, but couldn't hold off Missouri Southern late, allowing two late goals, including the game winner in overtime on Saturday (Oct. 8) in Joplin, Mo.
Joanne Glynn scored the early Tiger goal, giving FHSU the lead 1-0 at 11:06. The goal is Glynn's team-high sixth of the season.
Becca Andres tallied the assist on the goal.
The Tigers held the 1-0 advantage for almost 70 minutes until MSSU tallied their first goal. Lindi Spilchen scored off a set play for the host team at 80:06 to tie the game at 1-1.
The game remained knotted at 1-1 through the 90 minutes of regulation, forcing the contest into overtime. The Lions needed just two minutes of overtime to score the game winner as Alicia Vonderheid scored on a breakaway at 92:13
FHSU dropped to 4-7-1 with the loss and 1-4-1 in the MIAA. The Tigers return home for their next game on Thursday (Oct. 13) against Central Missouri, last season's MIAA conference champions, at 6 p.m. at the FHSU Soccer Stadium.
