Tiger football hosts No. 17 ranked Missouri Western for the final game on the 2011 slate on Saturday (Nov. 12) at Lewis Field Stadium in Hays. The game is set to kickoff at 2 pm. FHSU will honor 16 seniors playing in their final home game prior to the contest.

Fort Hays State is looking to finish sixth in the MIAA standings. The Tigers are currently tied in that position with Emporia State, as each team is 3-5 in conference play. Emporia State plays at No. 11 ranked Northwest Missouri State this weekend.

The Tigers are looking to snap a six-game losing streak to the Griffons. Missouri Western is 5-0 against FHSU since the Tigers joined the MIAA in 2006. Missouri Western is coming off a win over Northwest Missouri State last week to keep the Bearcats out of what could have been a three-way tie for the conference lead after Washburn defeated Pittsburg State last week.

Senior Alex Whitehill broke the FHSU Division II record for tackles last week, passing the old mark of 140 set by Dustin Bailey in 1992. With 143 this season, he now looks to break the all-time single-season mark at FHSU of 150, set by Junior Hartig in 1979. Whitehill continues to lead NCAA Division II in tackles.

Senior Ethan Kosjer also looks to break two FHSU punting records on Saturday. Kosjer is averaging 42.6 yards per punt in his career and 44.4 yards per punt this season. He is on pace to break both the career and single-season average records at FHSU, both owned by Adam Ryan. Kosjer ranks third in the nation in punting average this season.

Seniors participating in their final home game include Korey Allison, Ricky Jacques, Blake McAhren, Anthony Smith, Ethan Kosjer, Alex Whitehill, Nick Dreitz, Brock Einspahr, Eric Jusko, Mitchell Paneno, Casey Sorrell, Lamar Leon, Chase Leake, Edwin Herbert, Cameron Shelton, and Ernesto Martinez.
