Tiger Volleyball to Play a Doubleheader Monday

Live Stats I Live Audio (Audio will be for 7 pm match only)

The Fort Hays State volleyball team returns home for non-conference action tonight (Sept. 19) against Bethany (Kan.) College. The Lady Tigers and the Swedes will play a doubleheader, with the first match starting at 5:00 pm.

Fort Hays State is 6-5 on the season, but 0-3 in the MIAA after road losses this past weekend at Pittsburg State and Missouri Western. This will be the Tigers first match with an NAIA opponent this season, will all of the Tigers previous non-conference wins over NCAA Division II opponents, including future-MIAA member Central Oklahoma. With victories on Monday night, the Tigers could eclipse their win total from each of the past two seasons.

Freshman middle hitter Kylee Hoagland has taken over the team lead in kills with 94 and she continues to hold a strong percentage, which is currently a team-high .283. Hoagland also has 37 blocks for the year, which ranks her only behind sophomore Jenna Ulrich (41). Junior Kayla Zoglman has been steady as the FHSU setter, and she continues to average right at 10 assists per game. Tracie Hileman has spent her senior season as the Tigers' libero, and she leads the team with 218 digs.

Bethany comes to Hays with a 1-7 record, with their lone victory being a straight set defeat of Manhattan Christian College on August 29. They are led by junior Shelby Broeckelman, who leads the team with 50 kills and 15 blocks.
