Sophomore Joanne Glynn scored twice to power the Tigers to a 2-1 victory over Missouri Western on the road on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 24) at Spratt Stadium in St. Joseph, Mo. The Tigers fell behind 1-0, but Glynn tallied two second half goals to give FHSU the win.
Glynn's first goal came less than five minutes into the second half, as the forward's shot from 20 yards away hit the top left corner of the goal. Junior Cindy Benitez set up Glynn's goal.
The next Tigers' goal occurred just over 10 minutes later in the 61st minute, when Glynn's shot from 15 yards out on the left side found the back of the net. Once again, Benitez notched the assist on the goal.
The lone Missouri Western goal came just 13 minutes into the game. K.C. Ramsell scored the Griffons only goal of the game before the two second half Tiger goals.
FHSU dominated in the second half, totaling 15 shots to just five from the host team. For the game, the Tigers had 21 shots to 13 from Missouri Western.
Kesley Grey picked up the win in goal, stopping eight shots while allowing the one goal. Her record is now 3-4-1 on the season.
The Tigers upped their record to 3-4-1 on the season, and FHSU returns home for their next game against Truman next Saturday (Oct. 1) at 1 p.m at the FHSU Soccer Stadium.
