The Fort Hays State volleyball team faced Oklahoma-Panhandle State at Gross Memorial Coliseum on Tuesday night (Sept. 6) for the Tigers' home opener. FHSU used a strong hitting night by several players put away the Aggies in straight sets (25-18, 25-13, 25-20).
Sophomore
Camille Hubert had a strong hitting night for the Tigers, putting down 12 kills with just one error to rack up a hitting percentage of .524. The 12 kills for Hubert marks a new career-high and gives her the team lead with 48. Freshman
Sara Hewson and
Kylee Hoagland also had strong hitting nights, putting down nine and seven kills, respectively.
Junior
Kayla Zoglman, in her first home match with the Tigers, help set up the offense with 30 assists while the Tigers lone senior
Tracie Hileman had a team-high 13 digs. As a team, Fort Hays State hit .340 for the match, with 42 kills to just 10 errors.
With the win, Fort Hays State improves to 4-1 heading into this weekend's Purple Bash hosted by Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo. The win also was the first win by the Tigers at Gross Memorial Coliseum since October 21, 2009 when they downed Missouri Western in a five-set match.
