The Fort Hays State women's soccer team plays Truman today (Oct. 30) in the Quarterfinals of the MIAA Tournament in Kirksville, Mo. The Tigers enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed, and Truman is the No. 3 seed. The two teams met earlier this season in Kirksville with the Tigers winning 2-1. The winner of this matchup advances to the MIAA semifinals on Friday, Nov. 2.
The Tigers come into the match on a two-match winning streak, and FHSU has won four of its last five matches, including the TSU win. FHSU finished the regular season with an 11-6-1 record, which is a five win improvement from 2011 when the Tigers were in their inaugural season of soccer. The Tigers went 6-5-1 in the MIAA.
Freshman
Jordan Hester leads the Tigers with a team-high eight goals on the season. She adds four assists for 20 points on the season, also a team high. Freshman
Alexis Aiman ranks in the top 10 in the NCAA in assists with a team-high 10 assists. She is also third on the team in goals with four. Senior
Sade Humphrey is second in goals with six on the season, and she has three assists.
The Bulldogs enter today's match with a 12-5-1 record and finished 8-4 in the MIAA, however, TSU has struggled lately, losing three of its last four matches.
The winner of today's match advances to the MIAA semifinals on Friday (Nov. 2). The location of the MIAA semifinals and finals will be at the site of the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinal matches today.
