The Fort Hays State women's track and field team traveled to the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3 &4) in Lincoln, Neb.
Sam Szczublewski and
Anna Eigruber were the top two finishers for the Tigers, placing fourth and sixth, respectively. The Tigers competed against many top Division I programs at the event.
Szczublewski, a sophomore from Gilbert, Ariz., placed fourth in the 600 meter run. Her time of 1:36 was only 4 seconds off Ellie Grooter of Nebraska, who won the event. Brittany Harper of Wisconsin and Ellen Dougherty of Nebraska placed second and third.
Whitney Taylor of FHSU finished eighth in the same event with a time of 1:38.
Eigruber, a sophomore from McPherson, Kan., was sixth in the long jump for the Tigers. Eigruber jumped a distance of 18 feet, 4.25 inches to finish sixth. Mara Griva of Nebraska jumped 20 feet, 3.5 inches to win the long jump.
Gentry Linscott finished 10
th in the 5000 meter run. The junior from Effingham, Kan., ran an 18:20 in her 10
th-place run. Sarah Heuer of Colorado State timed a 17:30 to win the event.
Raven Boettger's time of 5:11 placed her 14
th in the one mile run. Whitney Henderson of Colorado State ran a 5:02 to take first in the mile run.
The Tigers travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. on Friday (Feb. 10) for the Air Force Invitational.
