Women’s Soccer Cruises to 6-0 Win in Home Opener

Box Score The Fort Hays State Tiger women's soccer team opened their home schedule in dominating fashion, winning 6-0 over the Bulldogs of McPherson College on Wednesday night (Sept. 5) at the FHSU Soccer Stadium.
 
Seven Tigers totaled points in the win, including a two goal, one assist performance from freshman Alexis Aiman, who nearly had a hat trick but hit the right post on a second half shot.
 
The Tigers took the lead early less than one minute into the contest, as Sade Humphrey beat the Bulldog keeper to the right side of the goal. Kylie Watson added a goal 15 minutes later to up the advantage to 2-0.
 
In the second half, the Tigers scored four goals. Aiman tallied her first goal on a penalty kick less than two minutes into the second half. She made it back-to-back goals eight minutes later, hitting in a nice cross from Humphrey.
 
FHSU added two late second half goals after emptying out the bench. Margaret Meier kicked in an Ember Albertson rebound for a 5-0 score in the 76th minute. Jordan Hester scored the final Tiger goal, kicking in her own rebounded shot in the 86th minute.
 
The Tigers defense was strong only allowing one Bulldog shot, which did not come until the 73rd minute. On offense, FHSU totaled 39 shots, including 16 shots on goal. The Tigers also had nine corner kicks to zero for the Bulldogs.
 
Rachael Schaad started in goal for the Tigers, making one save and getting the shutout win.
 
Fort Hays State welcomes Midland University to the FHSU Soccer Stadium on Friday for a 6 p.m. tilt against the Warriors.
