The Fort Hays State women's soccer team looks for its second straight win at home on Friday (Sept. 7) when it hosts Midland University at FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays. Game time is set for 6 pm and the men's team takes the field following the women's match as part of the FHSU Soccer Classic this weekend.
Fort Hays State is coming off a 6-0 win over McPherson College on Wednesday night in Hays. FHSU set a new school record for goals in a game in its young program history. The Tigers never scored more than four goals in a game in 2011.
After struggling to find the net in the first two games on the road this year, the Tigers are now averaging 2.3 goals per match after the offensive explosion on Wednesday night at home.
Freshmen
Alexis Aiman and
Kylie Watson lead the way in goals scored for the Tigers, each with two. Aiman scored both of hers in the 6-0 win over McPherson and Watson had the game-winner in overtime at CSU-Pueblo this past Sunday.
Jordan Hester,
Sade Humphrey and
Margaret Meier all have one goal each.
The Lady Tigers have allowed only one goal on the season so far. That goal was an own goal in the 1-0 loss to UC-Colorado Springs in the season opener. No opponents have scored under their own power yet against the Lady Tigers.
Nicole Barnaba is 1-0 in goal for the Tigers, posting a shutout against CSU-Pueblo.
Rachael Schaad picked up her first shutout win of the year in the win over McPherson and is 1-1 on the season.
