Box Score Fort Hays State pushed its overall record to 2-1 by cruising to a 5-1 win at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday (Sept. 10) in Alva, Okla. The Tigers built a 2-0 lead at halftime, then blew the match open with three more in the second half before NWOSU tallied the final goal.
Five different players scored goals for the Tigers.
Hailey Davey opened the scoring in the 12th minute on an assist from
Hannah Jurgens. Nearly four minutes later in the 16th minute,
Dani Harris tallied a goal with help from
Jordan Shaw.
Jordan Hester and
Sabrina Van Horn each tallied their second goals of the season to make it 4-0, also only about four minutes apart in the 58th and 62nd minutes.
Hailey Davey added a helper to give her three points in the match (goal and assist) and Jurgens recorded her second assist of the day on the Van Horn goal.
Kylee Loneker capped the scoring for FHSU in the 77th minute on a pass from
Ember Albertson.
A goal by Kaitlyn O'Toole of NWOSU broke up the shutout bid for FHSU goalkeeper
Nicole Barnaba, but she still finished with four saves to move to 1-1 on the season. The Tigers outshot the Rangers 26-12 in the match.
Fort Hays State continues a five-match road stretch this weekend in Colorado with matches at UC-Colorado Springs on Friday and CSU-Pueblo on Sunday.
