Women's Soccer back on road for conference opener

Women's Soccer hits the road this weekend for two matches to open conference play, visiting Central Missouri on Thursday, Sept. 19 and Southwest Baptist on Saturday, Sept. 21.
 
The Tigers (2-3) are 1-0 against CMU (2-1-1) in Warrensburg, Mo., though they trail, 1-2, in the overall series.  FHSU topped the Jennies in the MIAA Championship game last season.  Against SBU (2-1-1), FHSU is 1-1 all-time, having split wins at home and in Bolivar, Mo., last season.

Sabrina Van Horn has five points (two goals, one assist) for FHSU, while Jordan Hester's two goals put her second on the team with four points.  Hailey Davey, Amanda Talbott and Hannah Jurgens each have three points (one goal, one assist).  Nicole Barnaba (238:02) and Kelsey Grey (211:58) have split time in the Tigers' net.  Barnaba has racked up 10 saves while Grey has four. 
 
Central Missouri started off hot to the season, winning its first two games before falling to Minnesota State-Mankato, 3-0, and drawing with Winona State.  Hannah Moran and Becky Lackey each have six points for the Jennies.  Moran's have come on a team-best three goals, while Lackey has added two goals and two assists.  Morgan Hartzler's 373:55 minutes in goal lead the team this season.  The goalie has allowed five goals and saved 10 attempts.  Live stats for the 7 p.m. matchup can be found here.
 
Southwest Baptist is led by sisters' Karla and Kate Jamison, who lead the team with four and three points, respectively.  Karla Jamison has two goals for the season, while Kate Jamison has notched a goal and an assist.  The Bearcat's also sport MIAA Athlete of the Week, Ali Skogrand, who took the award after helping the defense allow just one goal in two games last week.   In goal, Paige Hemphilll has played all 380 minutes for the team, saving 22 shot attempts and allowing just three goals.  Scheduled for 10 a.m., there will be no live stats at the match.
 
These two games are the final part of a five-game road trip, in which the Tigers have gone 1-2.  The squad returns home Sept. 24 for a game with Bethany College, scheduled for 7 p.m.
