The Fort Hays State women's soccer team opens the 2013 season this weekend at FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays with a pair of non-conference matches. On Friday (Sept. 6), FHSU hosts Southwest Minnesota State at 6 pm, then hosts University of Sioux Falls on Sunday (Sept. 8) at 11 am.

Fort Hays State found success in 2012, the program's second year of existence, going 14-7 overall. The Tigers won the MIAA Tournament, grabbing the automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers fell in the opening round of the national tournament to conference foe Central Oklahoma, who they knocked off in the MIAA Tournament a week earlier.
Jordan Hester and
Dani Harris are the returning All-MIAA selections from 2012 for the Tigers. Both were true freshmen last season. Hester also earned all-region honors and accounted for nearly a fourth of the team's 44 goals last year with a team-leading 10.
Southwest Minnesota State finished with a record of 7-9-1 in 2012. University of Sioux Falls was winless in 2012, going 0-17-1.
