Fort Hays State Women's Soccer continues a weekend of Homecoming action for Tiger athletics with two conference games, Oct. 10 and 12. FHSU hosts Northeastern State on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a Sunday matchup with Central Oklahoma at Noon.
FHSU (5-4-1, 3-2-1 MIAA) split last weekend, picking up a 3-0 win over Lindenwood before falling just short of an upset versus then-No. 13 Central Missouri, falling 2-1 in overtime.
Hailey Davey's nine points (two goals, five assists) is a team-high, while
Jordan Hester (four goals) and
Kelsey Steffens (three goals, two assists) each have eight points.
Cenayda Guzman broke into the scoring column with three goals over the previous two weeks, scoring a goal in three consecutive games.
Mallory Diederich has a strong weekend for FHSU, scoring a goal and adding an assist in 185 minutes of action over the previous two games. Diederich has teamed with defenders
Jamie Babyak,
Hannah Smith and
Gabrielle Makatura in a strong backfield that has held opponents to nine goals and a .077 shot percentage. Additionally, only 56 of opponents' 117 total shots have been on goal, compared to 65 shots on goal (and 129 shots) for FHSU.
Kristin Thompson is second in the MIAA with five shutouts on the season, and has played every minute in the net for FHSU. Thompson is allowing just 0.85 goals per game (nine total) and has 47 saves on the year.
NSU (6-4-0, 3-3-0 MIAA) have 11 goals as a team this year, led by Melissa Giles' four goals (and one assist) for nine points. McKenzie Musella, Chelsea Martin and McKenna Jetton each have two goals, while Anastasia Robinson's two assists is a team-high. Goalkeeper Jordan Woodruff has started all 10 games and played every minute between the pipes, allowing nine goals and saving 49 attempts.
UCO (7-2-1, 4-1-1 MIAA) are unbeaten in its previous four games and have outscored opponents 20-8 overall this season. Emily Hahn and Gabi Bochus have four goals apiece, while Kate Foran's two goals is second on the team, tied with Lexi Carroll, who has two assists additionally. Emily Precure's four assists is a team-high. In goal, Elle Stover has allowed five goals with 25 saves in a majority of time.
