Women's Soccer suffers 2-1 overtime loss to CSU-Pueblo

Box Score Fort Hays State suffered its first loss of the season on Friday (Sept. 12), dropping a 2-1 contest in overtime to Colorado State-Pueblo on the road.

FHSU (2-1-0) fired 17 shots as a team in the game, five of which were on goal, but were outdone by CSU-Pueblo's (2-1-0) nine shots on goal (13 total shots).

CSU-Pueblo took a 1-0 lead late in the first half, scoring the game's first goal at 38:04.  Shae McNutt had the goal and was assisted by Jasmin Cigarroa.

FHSU tied the game with just over 30 minutes to play on Jordan Shaw's third goal of the year. Hailey Davey passed to Shaw just outside the right side of the box, setting up Shaw's equalizer from 18-feet away that found the left side of the net.  It was Davey's fourth assist of the early season.

In a golden goal situation, Cigarroa found the ball in a scramble after a corner kick and hit the upper right corner of the net for the game-winner.

Davey and Hannah Smith each had three shots for the game, followed by Kelsey Steffens, Jordan Hester and Jasmine Beaulieu, who each had two shots.

In the net, Kristen Thompson has seven saves, allowing two goals in a complete game performance.

The Tigers close out their season opening four-game road swing on Sunday (Sept. 14) against University of Colorado-Colorado Springs at Noon CT (11 a.m. MT).
