The 25th-ranked Fort Hays State men's soccer team continues its break from MIAA play with a pair of non-conference road matches in Oklahoma this week. First the Tigers head to Shawnee, Okla. on Thursday (Oct. 20) for a 7 pm match with Oklahoma Baptist before wrapping up the week in Bethany, Okla. on Saturday (Oct. 22) at 1 pm when they take on Southern Nazarene.

The Tigers enter the weekend 8-3-1 overall and rank second in both the NCAA Division II Central Region Rankings and the MIAA standings. Sitting just above FHSU in both is Lindenwood at 9-2-2 overall. The Lions have a one-game lead on FHSU in the conference standings. Although the weekend matches don't change conference position, the Tigers continue their quest to chase down the Lions in the region rankings.

The Tigers are relying on offensive production. When scoring less than two goals this season, their record is 0-2-1. However, when scoring two or more they are 8-1 overall. The Tigers have scored at least two goals in their last seven contests.

Leading FHSU offensively is junior transfer
Derick Gonzalez. Gonzalez leads the team in both points (17) and goals (8).
Luis Torres has added six goals for the season.

Mauricio Castorino have been the table setters for FHSU this year, combining with 11 assists.Â

Oklahoma Baptist enters the weekend 6-4-1 overall but have struggled of late losing two of its last three. Vincinte Castillo is the key offensive threat for the Bison, currently leading the team in goals (8) and tied for the team lead in assists (4). Tied with Castillo in assists is Jonathan Martinez. Thiago Dos Santos has also helped the Bison outscore opponents 28-21 with four goals to his name thus far.

When Southern Nazarene welcomes the Tigers they will be sporting an overall record of 1-12-1 overall. Goals have been tough to come by this season for the Crimson Storm with just 13 for the season. The defense has allowed 42 goals in 12 matches. Leading SNU on the offensive end is Mitchell Johnson with five goals.
