The 21
st-ranked Fort Hays State men's soccer team wraps up the regular season with two MIAA road matches this weekend. First the Tigers head to Fayette, Iowa on Friday (Nov. 4) to take the Peacocks of Upper Iowa at 2 pm before wrapping up the regular season with a huge matchup at Lindenwood on Sunday (Nov. 6) at 1 pm.

The Tigers (12-3-1, 5-1 MIAA) control their own destiny, still alive for a share of the MIAA regular season title and hosting rights to the NCAA Super Regional. The Tigers enter the weekend 12-3-1 overall and 5-1 in the MIAA, currently second in the MIAA standings and NCAA Central Region rankings. Lindenwood (13-2-2, 7-0 MIAA) is in front of FHSU in both. Lindenwood has already claimed at least a share of the MIAA regular season title, but if FHSU wins at Upper Iowa, Sunday's meeting with FHSU will determine whether Lindenwood wins the title outright or if FHSU ties Lindenwood for the title. The match also has big regional implications as it has become a two-horse race for the top ranking in the region between the teams. Lindenwood won the first meeting in Hays, 3-2.

Offense has been the key to success this season as they are one of the top scoring threats in the nation. The Tigers rank seventh in NCAA Division II averaging 3.06 goals per match. The success can be contributed to the selflessness of the team this season. As a team they have assisted 42 of their 47 goals this season, seven Tigers have multiple assists and
Mauricio Castorino is tied for eighth in the nation with a career-high 10 this season.

FHSU has been distributing the scoring well this season with 14 different players tallying goals, half of them with three or more goals.
Derick Gonzalez leads the team with nine goals and is followed by
Maurizio Costa,
Luis Mendez and
Luis Torres, all with seven.

Upper Iowa enters Friday's matchup with an overall record of 6-9 and MIAA record of 3-4. The Tigers claimed the first matchup of the season between the teams back on October 7 in Hays when Costa gave the Tigers a double overtime win on a penalty kick. Blair Lyons is the clear leader for Upper Iowa on the offensive as he leads the team in both goals (7) and assists (5).

Lindenwood's offense is equally as potent as Fort Hays State's this season, thanks in part to Xovani Dokaj who ranks tenth in the nation in goals with 16. As a team Lindenwood sits right behind FHSU in goals scored per match (3.058) nationally, ranking ninth.
