After starting the season on the road against non-conference opponents, the FHSU women's soccer team will now get back to its comfort zone as it takes on Nebraska-Kearney in a non-MIAA match Thursday (Sept. 14) in Nebraska. The Tigers bring a 2-0-2 record into the contest and earned a ---- ranking in the latest national poll.
Fort Hays State is coming off two-consecutive in North Dakota with 0-0 draws against Minot State and Augustana. Prior to the long road trip up north, the Tigers started the season 2-0 as they shut out their opponents 8-0 to start the season.
Leading the Tigers at this point remains senior
Eden Stoddard who has netted three goals, a team-high so far. Stoddard is one of six different Tigers to earn at least one goal during the first four matches. The goal for the Tigers has been controlled by
Kristen Thompson who has captured 13 saves, and
Megan Kneefel with five in her two match appearances.
Against the Lopers, Fort Hays State is on a six-game win-streak. The last loss to UNK fell in the final match of the 2013 season. In the last meeting between the two, the Tigers earned a 3-0 shutout win over the Lopers.
Nebraska-Kearney heads into the late-night Thursday match with a 2-1-1 record, most recently going 1-1 in Grand Junction, Co.
