Coming off a 3-2 offensive battle over Emporia State, the Fort Hays State women's soccer team looks to keep the momentum going in its final non-conference match of the early season. The Tigers will play host to MIAA foe in Washburn in FHSU's first home match of the season. Fort Hays State now sits at 3-1-2 on the year.
The Tigers continue to be led on the field by senior
Eden Stoddard as she leads the team with five goals so far, including two in the last contest for Fort Hays State. Stoddard has attempted 16 shots and also has two assists to her name in six matches. Fort Hays State also has seen six other Tigers hit the back of the net as they all have one goal on their stat lines.
FHSU has the advantage over their opponents as they have attempted 67 shots opposed to giving up 56. The Tigers have found the second half to be their most aggressive as they boast six goals late in the game, while holding their opponents to two in the second half. Kristen Thompson with 16 saves in just four matches played.
Washburn heads to Hays with a 3-2-1 overall record and are coming off a 2-0 shutout over Nebraska-Kearney. The Ichabods are led by by Ellie Karloff and Paige Swanson who each have netted two goals this season. Washburn has outshot their opponents 71-54 in six contests played.
Last season, Fort Hays State and Washburn split the matches with the Ichabods earning the 1-0 win early in the season, but the Tigers striking back late to earn a 3-0 shutout win over Washburn.Â
