2-0 Tigers Hit the Road to Minot for Two Away Matches this Weekend

With two shutouts behind them, the FHSU women's soccer team travels to Minot, N.D. this weekend to take on Augustana (Sept. 8) and Minot State (Sept. 10) on the road. The Tigers are 2-0 to open the 2017 campaign, with both contests being shutouts in favor of FHSU. Eden Stoddard is right back where she was this time last season as she leads the team with three goals.

In the first match this weekend against Augustana, the No. 14 Tigers look to continue their stifling offense as they have outscored opponents 8-0. For Augustana, it is 0-1-1 to start the year with one goal to its name. Samantha Tymkowicz scored the lone goal so far this season for the Vikings, as she netted one to help Augustana to a 1-1 tie with Wayne State to open the season. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

On Sunday, the Tigers will take on the Beavers of Minot State to round-out the weekend. Fort Hays State is 1-1 against Minot State in the past two seasons, winning last year 2-1. Sofia Lewis and Jordyn Cook currently lead the way for the Beavers as they have each capitalized on two goals to open the season. Minot State is 1-1 in its first two matches, with a 6-0 win over Black Hills State and a 2-1 loss to University of Mary.
