Men's Soccer Set to Battle RiverHawks in GAC/MIAA Finals

The Fort Hays State men's soccer team will play in the GAC/MIAA Tournament Championship match on Sunday (Nov. 14) when they face the No. 4 seed Northeastern State. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Bethany, Okla. The winner will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship Tournament.

The Tigers claimed their spot in the finals with a 1-0 victory over No. 3 seed Rogers State on Friday. Blake Arndt and Taisei Arima are now tied with nine goals each as they lead the Tigers in scoring. Keeper Kieran Brown has compiled 70 saves this season, 3rd most in FHSU men's soccer history. Brown and the Tiger defense have helped the team to a 12-5-2 overall record and seven shutouts this season.

Northeastern State upset the No. 1 seed Southern Nazarene 3-0 in the second semifinal match on Friday. The RiverHawks have compiled a 10-9 overall record this season while averaging almost 14 shots per match and compiling 54 saves. The Tigers are 2-0 against the RiverHawks this season and 13-9-5 all-time. The all-time record in neutral site games between these two teams is 1-1 with the last match ending in a 2-1 defeat for the Tigers in Phillipi, W.Va. during the NCAA Central Region finals in 2017.
