The FHSU women's soccer team will play their final non-conference regional match in Topeka, Kan. on Friday (Sept. 24) against Washburn with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. Following that, the Tigers will play their conference opener at No. 5 ranked Emporia State on Sunday (Sept. 26) with a 2 pm kickoff.
The Tigers are fresh off of a 3-0 rout of Nebraska-Kearney in Hays last Sunday (Sept. 19) bringing their overall record to 3-1-2. Four Tigers are tied for the lead in scoring with two goals apiece: Amanda Rapuduski, Jordan Thompson, Alex Hutton, and Carly Walker. The Tigers have scored nine total goals this season and FHSU keepers Deonna Wellbrock, Maddie Meehan, and Isabel Robben have combined to allow only two goals this season, while compiling 31 saves. Wellbrock leads the keepers with 28 saves.
The Ichabods are 4-1 on the season with their most recent win against Nebraska-Kearney on Sept. 17. They have outscored their opponents 8-4 and are averaging nine shots per game. The Hornets are 5-0-1 on the year and are outscoring their opponents 18-5.
The Tigers are 10-5-1 against the Ichabods all-time with the last match ending in a 2-1 victory in Topeka. The Tigers are 8-4-5 against the Hornets all-time with the last match ending in a 1-1 tie in Hays just last week (Sept. 17) in non-conference regional play. Only FHSU and Rockhurst have limited Emporia State to less than two goals in a match this season.
