Grant Schmidt had a strong day at the plate, totaling two home runs and two doubles while driving in four runs and scoring three. Ed Scott picked up three hits on the day, while Jaxson Webb was 2-for-3 in the finale.

The Tigers will return to Larks Park next weekend to host Regis in another four-game set beginning Friday (Feb. 18).

Drury answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Panthers scored at least one run in each inning, slowly building the lead throughout the game.

Fort Hays State closed within 4-2 in the top of the third when Schmidt crushed a two-out home run to center field, his first of the season.

The third Tiger run came in the sixth when Tico Olivas led off the frame with a walk. Schmidt followed with a ground-rule double to right center before Kade Wallace plated Olivas with an RBI groundout.

Game Two - Drury 19, Fort Hays State 7
Fort Hays State jumped in front again in the first inning with a string of four consecutive hits. Olivas worked a one-out walk before Scott hit a ground rule double to right center. Schmidt followed with a double off the wall in left, plating one run. Webb then reached easily on a base hit deep in the hole at short to push Scott across the plate. Mikey Felton kept things rolling with a base knock through the left side, driving in Schmidt and giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead.

Fort Hays State pushed the lead to 4-0 in the top of the third when a hit by pitch and two walks loaded the bases with only one out. Kade Wallace got the job done with a high fly ball to center field, plating Webb with a sacrifice fly.

Tiger starter Cole Zimmerman worked around hits in the first and second innings to post zeroes before Drury pushed two across in the third on three hits and one error.

Schmidt continued his stellar day with an inside-the-park home run in the top of the fourth. Scott opened a two-out rally with a single before Schmidt sent a ball deep into the wall just right of center field. The ball caromed high off the angled wall towards left, past the Drury fielder. Schmidt kept sprinting as he rounded second and was at full speed as he crossed third heading for home. The senior outfielder didn't even need to slide, crossing home plate standing up to put the Tigers up 6-2.

Drury kept things going offensively after its spark in the third, scoring five runs in the fourth inning, six in the fifth and six more in the sixth. The Tigers scored another run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Jason Robertson, scoring Griffin Brunson.
