Women's Soccer Hosts Two Familiar Foes This Week

Fort Hays State Women's Soccer will be at home this week as they host Washburn on Friday (Sep. 16) at 6 p.m. for their final non-conference match before opening MIAA play against Emporia State on Sunday (Sep. 18), which kicks off at 2 p.m.

The Tigers (4-0-2) played to a 1-1 draw in their most recent non-conference match against Emporia State. The Tigers have four shutouts this season while outscoring opponents 7-2. The team is led in scoring by Hannah Mares and Montserrat Diaz with two goals each. FHSU is averaging almost 11 shots per match with a .516 shots on goal percentage.

Washburn (5-0-1) defeated Nebraska-Kearney 2-1 in its most recent match. WU is averaging over 14 shots per game, placing over half of them on target, while outscoring opponents 14-5. The all-time series leans in favor of the Tigers 11-5-2 after a 2-0 victory over the Ichabods in last year's regular season finale. Washburn and Fort Hays State are two of the five women's squads in the MIAA that remain unbeaten on the year.

The Hornets (1-4-1) have scored nine goals through six games, while averaging almost 15 shots per match. The Tigers lead the all-time series 8-5-6 after the 1-1 non-conference draw between the teams this past Sunday in Emporia.

Live stats and live video will be available for both matches.
