Women's Soccer to Cross State Line to Missouri This Weekend

The Fort Hays State women's soccer team is prepared to travel to Joplin and Warrensburg, Mo. this upcoming weekend with matches on Friday (Oct. 20) and Sunday (Oct. 22). The Tigers will first play Missouri Southern on Friday and then play No. 17 ranked Central Missouri on Sunday. This trip comes after a 2-0 week against Rogers State and Northeastern State.

Fort Hays State is now 10-1-3 on the season, 6-0-1 in conference play. The Tigers have won their last four matches in a row and have not dropped a match since September 22nd. This upcoming weekend is crucial for the team's hopes of taking the conference title. With just four regular season matches left the Tigers sit in a tie with the Washburn Ichabods for the top place in the MIAA conference.

The Lions of Missouri Southern are 0-12-2 overall this season, 0-6-1 in conference action. The Lions are currently on a four-game losing skid and have been limited to just two goals over that span. Fort Hays State handed MSSU a 5-0 loss a season ago in Hays and currently leads the all-time series history with a record of 7-2-3.

Central Missouri enters the week ranked third in the conference standings, right behind FHSU and Washburn, with a 10-3-1 overall record, and a 5-1-1 conference record. The Jennies will first play UNK on Friday before hosting FHSU on Sunday. The meeting to end the weekend will be a rematch of last year's MIAA Tournament semifinals when the Jennies won 2-0 to advance to the championship match. Both teams went on to compete in the Central Regional of the NCAA Tournament, which was also in Warrensburg. FHSU has just two wins all-time against UCM and is looking to turn the tide back in their favor. The Tigers will seek their first win against Central Missouri since 2015.
