The Fort Hays State women's soccer team is ready to travel to Wichita, Kan. on Thursday (Nov. 9) to take on the Jennies of Central Missouri for the MIAA Tournament semifinals. The match is set for 12 p.m. at Stryker Sports Complex.
Â
The two teams last met on October 22 in Warrensburg, Mo. where the Jennies won 3-0, scoring all three of their goals in the second period of play. This is also rematch of last year's MIAA Tournament semifinals. Central Missouri defeated Fort Hays State 2-0 a season ago to advance to the championship match against Emporia State, where they went on to win the tournament 4-3 over the Hornets.
Â
The series history between the two programs dates back to October of 2011 and has been controlled by UCM. The Jennies have a 15-2-1 record when playing Fort Hays State. Thursday's match will be just the second neutral site game between the two teams. The Tigers will be looking for their first win against Central Missouri since 2015. The Tigers' first win against UCM came back in 2012 when they defeated the Jennies 2-1 in 2OT of the MIAA Tournament championship match and secured their first tournament title in program history.
Â
The No. 2 seed Jennies come into the semifinals on a two-match winning streak. They defeated Central Oklahoma in the quarterfinal round by a score of 2-1 to advance in the tournament.
Â
The championship match of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday (Nov. 11) at 8 p.m. The other semifinal round matchup will be played on Thursday (Nov. 9) at 3 p.m. between the No. 1 seed Washburn Ichabods and the No. 4 seed Emporia State Hornets.
