Women's Soccer Hosts Lopers and Hornets in Non-Conference Contests

The Fort Hays State women's soccer team faces a pair of conference teams in non-conference play with home matches against Nebraska-Kearney and Emporia State. The Tigers will first play the Lopers on Friday (Sept. 15) at 7:00 p.m. before hosting the Hornets on Sunday (Sept. 17) at 2:00 p.m.

The Tigers finished last week 1-0-1 after two shutouts against Sioux Falls and No. 15 Augustana. Alex Hutton and Allison Worley both recorded goals in the 2-0 win against Sioux Falls. Neither team was able to score in the matchup against nationally ranked Augustana. Fort Hays State did outshoot the Vikings 11-5 in the match. After two great defensive performances, goalkeeper Isabel Robben took home the MIAA conference goalie of the week honor for week two.

Offensively the Tigers have netted eight goals on the season, good for an average of two per match. The offense has also outshot their opponents 81-18. Sullivan Kelly leads the team in assists with two and shots with 13.

The Lopers of Nebraska-Kearney are currently 1-3-0 on the season so far. The Lopers fell in their most recent match to Drury University by a score of 2-0. The Tigers swept the Lopers last season, winning both matchups 1-0. Fort Hays State also leads the all-time series with a record of 15-3-1 against Nebraska-Kearney, having not lost to UNK since 2017.

Last season's conference runner-up, the Emporia State Hornets will play against Washburn on Friday before traveling to Hays on Sunday. The Hornets are currently 0-2-2. Fort Hays State and Emporia State tied both times during the regular season last year, but the Hornets clinched a victory over the Tigers in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, ending Fort Hays State's season.

Live stats and live video will be available for both of the weekend matches.

The Tigers will hit the road for the first time this season next week starting on Friday (Sept. 22)
